Video Review & Installation

Hey, what's upwardly, guys? I'm Ryan from American Trucks, and today I'm here with the MBRP 3-inch installer series dual exhaust system, plumbing equipment your 2004 to 2008 F-150 with a v.4 liter Triton. This is for the F-150 owner that is looking to upgrade or supervene upon that factory exhaust for a piffling more power and sound at a very affordable price. This is perfect for the truck owner that is looking for the symmetry of a dual exhaust and actually isn't trying to spend likewise much coin on a new organization. This is a very easy bolt-on upgrade that'southward really gonna increase that menstruum and wake your truck upwardly. This is made from heavy-duty mandrel aptitude tubing for a directly fit and has an aluminized coating that'south gonna provide some corrosion resistance. This comes equally a complete kit with everything needed to install, making for a very quick installation, and it even reuses some of the factory hangers. This is your most affordable option on the site as far equally these systems go when compared to others of the same design. And at just over $400, I retrieve this is a groovy organisation to become with and definitely the most blindside for your buck. Now, as far as loudness goes, on a scale of one to 5, I'm gonna rate this a strong 3 out of five as this thing is pretty aggressive and gives a nice deep tone as well equally a very throaty exhaust notation. At present, as far equally the install goes, I'grand gonna give this two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter since you can install this in nearly two hours with basic mitt tools. Withal, you lot may need to trim that intermediate pipe depending on your bed and cab configuration. Now, with that being said, permit'south hop into the install.Tools required for this install: safe gloves, safety spectacles, penetrating lubricant, iii/8 drive bear upon, 15-millimeter socket, 9/sixteen socket, five/16 Allen key, 1/2 inch wrench, Sharpie, cutoff wheel, sawzall chop saw, flathead screwdriver, tape mensurate, and a pry bar. And then there'south two means that you can do this. You can do this on the basis, or if yous have admission to a lift, you can do it on a lift. We have ours on a lift, non simply to give yous a ameliorate thought, but nosotros're gonna try to become this whole exhaust system out in one clamper. If you are doing this on the ground, most likely you have to cut this tail section off every bit you won't be able to get the exhaust up and over the axle. And then the beginning matter we're gonna do is nosotros're gonna offset off by spraying our ring clamp and all of our hangers with some lubricant and and then nosotros're gonna endeavor to get this matter out.First, start here at the dorsum of the wide pipe. Since our whole exhaust extends from here back, nosotros're gonna loosen this clamp using a xv-millimeter socket. So now that we have that clamp loose, the adjacent I'm gonna do is slide this whole exhaust arrangement dorsum. Now, nosotros are taking this out in one clamper, so I would recommend having a friend grab the other side. We're just gonna stick a pry bar in here and try to slide all these out of their mounts. So before I show y'all how to go this organisation installed, I wanna take a moment just to tell you a little bit virtually what this exhaust is made of, what it's gonna do for your truck, and how it compares to your stock one. Those of you looking for an aftermarket organization are after three things: an increase in power, sound, and advent. This is an affordable pick to give y'all all three of those.Your stock system is specifically designed to reduce sound. There's a very big restrictive muffler that is not very good for flow. If y'all're looking for something that'due south gonna period a lot better and requite yous the symmetry of a dual frazzle, this arrangement is a great option for you. This has 3-inch piping upwards to the hi-flow muffler. Then after that, it splits off into two individual pipes that are two-and-a-half inches in diameter. This whole organisation is fabricated from steel merely it has an aluminized coating. MBRP does a very good job at blanket this whole system and they add an additional coating to the weld seams and areas that are susceptible to rust. And so for those of yous on the East Coast that are worried near those conditions and all that salt and humidity that may affect the integrity of your exhaust system, you may wanna look at a higher quality stainless steel organization that MBRP also offers. For those of y'all that aren't really worried about that or are only looking for an affordable system, this is a great option to go with. MBRP finishes off this whole system with nice polished tips, giving your truck a very stylish appearance, and this whole affair is designed to be a direct commodities-on for your truck, even reusing the factory hangers. And so with that being said, let's show yous how this gets installed and what information technology sounds like on the truck. So earlier nosotros get this piping installed, we need to cut it to the correct length. MBRP has all the measurements detailed out in their instructions. And for our SuperCab with a six-and-a-one-half foot bed, we need to measure 37 inches and cut that. So we're gonna do that now. And so we're gonna put our gloves on and our prophylactic spectacles, and we're gonna cut this pipe. Now we're gonna take our extension pipe, the uncut side that is narrow. We're gonna slide that over our Y-pipe. Make certain that you put a clamp on there. And we'll let that hang and we'll go our muffler on.We're gonna take our clamp with a hanger on there. We're gonna slide this onto this piping with our hanger facing towards the dorsum of the truck. And we're gonna take our muffler, selection that upwardly, slide it on. We're gonna support that with a pole jack. Now nosotros're gonna have this hanger, we're gonna slide it forward and go it into our hanger mountain. So we're gonna become back up to the front end and use a 9/16 socket just to tighten these two clamps up. That way, our exhaust doesn't shift around. So, next, we're gonna do the over-the-axle section for the passenger side. This is gonna have a precipitous kink hither. We're gonna send this ring over the axle. So we're gonna exercise that and install one of these clamps. One time you get that into the hanger, we're gonna install our clamp and connect the rest of our pipage. Then next, we're gonna place another clamp on the muffler. And so we'll install our driver side over the beam piping. This has a hanger on it and it is going to slide into the condom mountain on the crossmember. So earlier we go the rest of this driver-side axle piping on, and since we don't have a hanger on this side of the frame, MBRP provides united states with a hanger and the hardware to install. So we're gonna take a little black J-clip. Yous have a square pigsty and a round pigsty up there. We're gonna insert this J-clip through the square hole, into the circular hole, and so we're gonna attach this subclass up in that location. And so we're gonna install our tailpipe section, making sure that we slide that onto our frazzle and into this new hanger. I want to have 1 of our clamps and install it over the pipe. We're gonna go around tightening everything upwardly and accommodate the exhaust as needed. We're gonna utilize a ix/sixteen to tighten all these clamps up. Make sure that the pipes are fully inserted within of each other earlier you tighten the clamps up. To tighten this hanger up, we're gonna use a i/two inch ratchet. So once you get the exhaust all adapted and where you lot like it, the last matter we're gonna practise is install the tips. Now, you're gonna have a big bolt hither. We're gonna use a 5/16 Allen primal to tighten that up and get them where nosotros want.So after you have this system fully installed, you wanna drive your truck around for a little while and and then recheck all those clamps. Nonetheless, that'due south gonna wrap up my review and install. For more than videos like this, check us out at americantrucks.com.
